Postpartum Doula

What does a Postpartum Doula do?

Nurturing the Mother, Strengthening the Family

While much of the focus during pregnancy is on the birth, the period that follows, the "Fourth Trimester", is a profound transition that requires its own dedicated care. As a Postpartum Doula, my role is to "mother the mother" (and the partner), ensuring that you feel nurtured, confident, and physically able to recover while you bond with your newest family member.

What I Bring to Your Home:
My goal is to create a sanctuary of support so you can focus on what matters most. Unlike a NCS who focuses solely on the infant, a Postpartum Doula looks at the entire ecosystem of the home:

  • Emotional Processing & Support: The transition to parenthood is a major identity shift. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to process your birth story, navigate hormonal changes, and discuss the many emotions that come with this new chapter.

  • Physical Recovery & Comfort: I support your postpartum healing by ensuring you are resting, staying hydrated, and receiving the care you need to recover from childbirth.

  • Practical Household Help: To lower your stress, I assist with the "invisible" tasks: light meal preparation, nourishing snacks, laundry, and keeping the nursery organized.

  • Newborn Education & Confidence Building: I guide you through newborn cues, soothing techniques, bathing and babywearing, empowering you to trust your own instincts as a parent.

  • Feeding Support: Whether you are breastfeeding, chest-feeding, or bottle-feeding, I offer hands-on assistance and troubleshooting to help make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.

The "Psychology-First" Difference

With my background in Psychology, I bring an extra layer of awareness to your home. I am trained to recognize the nuances of postpartum mood adjustments and to provide the emotional "holding space" that is often missing in modern postpartum care.

I don't just "help out"; I observe, listen, and adapt. My presence is designed to match your family’s rhythm: I can be the quiet, invisible hand that keeps the house running while you sleep, or the supportive confidante you need to talk through the challenges of the day. I am here to ensure that the foundation of the family (the parents) stays strong, seen, and supported.
